On March 15, 2022, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), chair of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, and Border Safety, held a hearing titled “Removing Barriers to Legal Migration to Strengthen our Communities and Economy.”
All of Us submitted a testimony that the root cause of green card backlog is that there are not enough green cards available. In the testimony we endorsed three pieces of legislation:
- S. 2753, America’s Children Act, the Protecting Children of Long-Term Visa Holders Act;
- The RELIEF Act, the Resolving Extended Limbo for Immigrant Employees and Families Act, which would eliminate the family and employment green card backlog by increasing the number of green cards available, and
- S.1024, the Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act.
Each of these removes specific barriers to the legal immigration that America needs. Please find the testimony here.
